The Neck Bulge, a God-Ordained Coincidence, and the Promise of Double Portions

It has been a heavy, revealing week of doctors, diagnoses, and divine nudges. It started on Tuesday with my GP. The man is 42 years old and is about to get his own neck fused. It felt like a direct answer to prayer because he knew exactly what my problem was and immediately ordered an MRI. By Wednesday, the results were in: a neck bulge and a few other things visibly wrong. Thursday brought a meeting with a new neurologist. He had the vibe of an Indian grandpa, sitting there checking his messages on his phone while I was talking. He essentially told me to do physical therapy and offered zero help for my sleep. When I told him I had already quit caffeine and tried every solution he was half-heartedly throwing at me, he got visibly annoyed. “If you don't want to do drugs, then what are we going to do?” he asked.
So, I am awake again at 5:00 AM on this Labor Day weekend, staring out at the water, watching the tons of boats gathering, and praying for everyone's safety. But in the quiet of that early morning frustration with doctors, God shifted my focus back to the assignment He has placed in front of me.
I am stepping into the ring for one more fight, just like Joshua. I want to become a Gold SaaSpreneur. I've been on that platform for over six years, and if I don't hit this mark, I am just playing at being an agency. I’d just be living on the fading laurels of my past—the guy who was the VP of the second-largest ad agency at 25, the guy who built a 27-person team and a $5 million agency. God used the strict fast to finally reveal the offer I’ve been struggling to figure out for months. I’m launching “Restaurant Revival,” and I have eight days to pull off a webinar.
Friday morning, I met with my men’s business leader, Kurt, and he absolutely loved the idea. During that meeting, I mentioned a guy named Jonathan—a former Valpak rep currently stuck in home health sales who I thought would be an incredible fit for this. Jonathan and I had talked in February, and he wasn't interested. But as Kurt and I walked down the steps from the coffee shop, we literally ran right into Jonathan and his wife. There are no coincidences with God. That was a God-ordained collision. Jonathan made small talk and had to leave, but God clearly laid the man on my heart.
Today's SOAP
S - Scripture
Isaiah 61:2-3, 7 (NIV): “...to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair... Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance.”
O - Observation
The prophet Isaiah delivers a breathtaking promise to God's people: God sees the mourning and the devastation, and His response is not just to comfort, but to actively restore and multiply. He replaces the ashes of ruin with a crown of beauty, and He promises a double portion of inheritance instead of shame. It is a testament to a God who delights in repaying what the locusts have eaten when His people turn back to Him.
A - Application
If I am completely honest, I do not feel like I deserve comforting in my grief, and I certainly do not deserve a double portion. But my mind is finally healed. The arrogance of my feral 40s has been broken. God held me back for a time exactly like this—not so I can build my own wealth, but so I can steward His. I have to execute this eight-day webinar sprint with absolute excellence, but I must release the outcomes entirely to the Lord. If Jonathan changes his mind and decides to sell with me, I will know it was entirely God's prompting and nothing of my own doing. My only job is to obey the promptings, stop resting on the legacy of my 20s, and build this new venture to 100x the Kingdom impact.
P - Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for the physical clarity of the MRI and the patience to deal with unhelpful doctors. Lord, I lift up Restaurant Revival to You today. Let this plan be completely Yours, stripped of my own ego or ambition. I pray for Jonathan; if this is the career path that will bring him meaning and joy, stir his heart, but I leave that entirely in Your hands. Thank You for the breathtaking promise to comfort my grief and repay what the locusts have eaten. Give me the endurance of Joshua for this one last fight, and let every ounce of success point directly back to Your glory. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Today's Challenge
Identify one specific area in your life or career where you have been coasting on the successes of your past rather than executing the new vision God has given you. Write down the very first step you need to take to launch that new vision, and complete it before your head hits the pillow tonight.
